"It was certainly a close call," said Barnaby, "but Josh came out on top. Whilst all three finalists had a huge amount of skill and knowledge, it was Josh's personality that enabled him to just pip the others to the post."
The skills demonstrated at the National Finals echoed the knowledge and commitment
demonstrated in the regional heats across the country - where every facet of
the bartending profession being severely tested - including the requirement of
making a series of classic rum cocktails at speed such as the Mojito, Mai Tai,
Daiquiri and Jamaican Mule. The mixologists then had to create and name their
own unique Appleton Estate cocktail, as well as giving a detailed presentation
about a given Caribbean island.
