After 5 regional heats and a punishing finale,
The UK Appleton Estate Bartender's Challenge winner was decided in a dramatic
shake off at London's Floridita. Josh Ivanovic from London's Milk & Honey overcame
ten other finalists to claim the title that will see him represent the UK in
Jamaica as part of a global showcase of bartending talent.
"This contest is unique," says Barnaby Rodgers, the UK brand manager
at Wray & Nephew, producers of Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum. "Rather than
the established order, it is the audience, who were made up of guests invited
by urbanjunkies.com, that judged the contestants." Each member of the audience
was given a special card - and when the work was done, it was the task of the
audience to make their own personal vote for the winner by giving the card to
their chosen Bartender, with the bartender that ended up with most votes winning. |
